MONROE TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY
Up for auction is this 1987 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, finished in bright red, with a red interior, and a four-speed automatic transmission. This is a very clean and well cared for example of an early C4 chassis Corvette, with a few solid upgrades, two sets of the original keys, and a clear title. The current owner enjoys fixing cars up and made smart and substantial upgrades to the appearance and mechanical condition of this Corvette, and is in excellent shape, ready for the next owner.
This Corvette is finished in Bright Red, and was repainted in the factory color in 2018, with both a bas coat and a clear coat. The removable top is finished in the factory color. The car is completely stock, and is equipped with BFGoodrich G-Force tires, in 255/50-16” size on the stock 16” turbine style wheels. The targa roof is color matched to the car, and the original ratchet to remove it is still in the glovebox.
The interior is finished in red, and is in excellent condition. The original seats were replaced with Ecklers pleather in the factory color. In addition, the current owner replaced both the carpets and the dashboard with Ecklers items as well. The seats show minimal evidence of wear, and there is no fade or color mismatch. The stereo is the only aftermarket addition to this Corvette.
All 1987 Corvettes were powered by a 350ci L98 V8, with 240HP, adding a 35 hp increase from the previous year thanks to roller hydraulic lifters. The four-speed automatic transmission was standard, and the car came equipped with ABS brakes. The shocks were replaced by the current owner with Bilstein units, and the BF Goodrich tires were purchased and installed two years ago, and have approximately 2,000 miles of use. Known issues on the car include the a/c working but needing a recharge, a non-functioning horn, and the electric passenger seat can occasionally be hard to engage or work.
At 125k miles, this Corvette was actually used, but is in top shape both mechanically and in appearance. The current owner bought the car in 2018, from Florida, and the car currently resides in southern New Jersey, where it has accumulated 3,000 miles since purchase.
This is a very clean example even by Corvette standards, as the photos can attest. The car actually got driven in its life but was clearly well cared for, properlu upgraded amd maintained, and needs minor fixes to be perfect. This is an excellent example of an early C4 chassis Corvette that is ready to drive and enjoy.
