MORGAN TWP, PA, USA
Up for auction is this 1993 Ford Mustang LX convertible, finished in white with a black fabric convertible top over a red cloth interior, running the 2.3 liter four-cylinder engine with a four speed automatic transmission, and 95,514 miles on the clock.
This is the base model technical specification for the 1993 Fox Body Mustang convertible, with the four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission, but with good specification and some thoughtful upgrades to make it a great summer driver. Clearly this example was well-maintained, with relatively low mileage for the age, and exceptionally clean inside and out. While not equipped with the famous “5.0”, as a summer cruiser this is an exceptional value, and as a four cylinder model, near impossible to find in this kind of pampered condition.
The Vibrant White exterior finish of this Mustang is in very good condition. All panels are properly aligned and the color is even across all panels. Up front, the nose is in excellent shape, free from defect or damage, displaying no stone chips or paint flaws. The lenses are all crystal clear and clean, with no signs of the yellowing or clouding you normally see with older polycarbonate lighting. The clarity continues out back, were the taillights have equal clarity and rich red and clear lighting lacking any indication of aging or sun damage. The black convertible top is in excellent condition, clean and taut, with a clear rear backlight. For wheels, this LX received the factory five-spoke 16” wheels normally available with the 5.0 liter V8 engine, and are in excellent shape, giving the Mustang a more serious stance compared to the standard issue wheels normally installed on the four cylinder version.
The interior of the Mustang is in very good condition. The red cloth seating does show some mild wear, most apparent on the driver side exit bolster, and some fade from sun exposure. The armrests are intact and clean, though the driver door armrest does show some evidence of use. Most of the interior plastics and the red convertible top cover are in very good condition. The dash top and instrument panel are all in excellent shape, with no visible damage and good color, with all components operating properly. The Insignia stereo radio is the single aftermarket addition to the interior.
Though not a powerful motor, the 2.3 liter four cylinder is sturdy and reliable, and in this example, housed in an exceptionally clean engine bay. Underneath, there is some evidence of mild corrosion on the undercarriage, along with some evidence of overspray in the factory color.
