Up for sale is this 2007 Audi RS4, finished in Misano Red over a black interior, powered by a 4.2 liter V8 running through a six-speed manual transmission, with 47,944 miles on the clock.
This Audi is a clean, low mileage example of the B7 chassis RS4, the first time the quickest version of Audi’s A4 line was officially imported to the United States. Compared to the S4 from the same generation, it came with a wider stance covered by flared fenders and more aggressive bodywork, but the main difference was the 420hp 4.2 liter V8.
While the base S4 came with a 340hp V8, this version had strengthened internals and an 8000rpm redline, with the six-speed manual being the only transmission, and was available only in the RS4 and the first generation R8 sportscar. The RS4 is full of subtle but important changes, like moving the battery from under the hood to the trunk, for better weight distribution.
Sold in the U.S. as a sedan or cabriolet, it was also available as an Avant wagon in overseas markets. In total, the North American market received about 2,000 examples sold here between 2007 and 2008. The Misano Red finish is relatively rare, as many came in the usual variations of grey, silver and black finishes from the era. This example has had two owners, spent its life in Southern California, and is a great option for Audi Quattro enthusiasts.
The exterior of this Audi is in very good condition, with a glossy finish of the Misano red shade, and consistent tint across all panels. Up front, the nose of the RS4 suffers from very little pitting or stone damage, and all lights and lenses are clear and in proper operating condition. The shield style grill is equipped with the removable factory fill panel below the logo, eliminating the inset space for a front license plate.
Out back, the rear bumper has one small nick as shown in the picture, but is otherwise blemish-free, with clean exhaust tips and properly aligned trim. Badges are all in their proper factory placement, and lights and lenses are clear and functioning properly.
Along the sides, doors and fenders are free from any door dings or nicks. A small area of missing paint is noted on the leading edge of the side skirt ahead of the right rear wheel, and a small cut on the side of the rear bumper. The original equipment chrome trim surrounding the side windows have been refinished with black trim paint, with some chipping visible. The chrome trim running the edge of the front shield style grill also has the same black trim treatment, with minor nicks visible.
The wheels are the factory equipment 18-inch aluminum alloy, with minor curb rash visible in pictures. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sports, all with at least 75% tread, with date codes of 0317 visible in pictures.
The black interior of this Audi is in excellent condition, with very little evidence of age. The Recaro front bucket seats have very clean and firm seating surfaces, and the bolsters show very little wear or color fade.
In the rear, the seat has some light surface color degradation, but the leather itself is intact. The dashboard features real carbon fiber accents, all of which are glossy and free from cracks or fade. Equipment includes the optional factory Audi navigation system, which is in proper operating condition.
The 420hp 4.2 liter V8 is paired with the close-ratio six-speed manual transmission, running through Audi’s Torsen quattro permanent all-wheel drive, with a 60/40 front/rear power split. The drivetrain is in excellent condition, with no driveability issues.
Underneath, the chassis is very clean, with very little corrosion except on bare metal parts.
