BENICIA, CA, USA
Up for auction is this 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 170” length version, on a 2500 chassis with four-wheel drive with high/low transfer case, running the 3.0 liter V6 Turbodiesel engine with a seven-speed automatic transmission. This Sprinter was upgraded with a full Owl Vans Overland conversion and upgrade, finished in Arctic white with black trim over a black interior with white cargo space, and only 1200 miles on the clock.
This is an excellent example of the popular Sprinter Overland style van, fully modified for off-road use. This 2019 Sprinter was modified in January of this year by Owl Vans of Novato, California, and has not been driven since completion. A glance at the impressive specs reveal that this is not merely an appearance package, but a comprehensive suspension and running gear upgrade meant to enable superior grip and traction off the beaten path. Those upgrades are bolstered with substantial underbody protection and exterior gear carrying ability, and auxiliary lighting front and back, for driving, loading and/or camping.
While fully set up mechanically, the interior is still essentially an “open plan”, completely bare behind the two front seats – which makes it ready for customization for the new owners needs. This way it can be furnished to be a full camper, or leave room for motorcycles, bikes and gear. This Sprinter was ordered new with proper factory options to support the aftermarket upgrades, and comfort options to make this a proper long-distance tourer or home away from home.
The Arctic White exterior finish is in excellent condition, with no cosmetic issues. The exterior upgrades start up front with the Backwoods front bumper and 20” LED light bar. An extra four LED lights are mounted in the square cutouts in the bumper face, along with a center mounted Factor 55 cable winch. Up top, the roof is covered by the 170” full length rack, fronted by five rack-mounted Baja Designs LP9 LED light pods.
In the back, the upgrades include Sherpa Ladder tire carrier with full extra spare tire, and a Backwoods rear bumper equipped with rear bumper lights. Upgraded wheels with bead locks are shod with BFG KO2 tires, brand new with full tread.
Inside, the Sprinter is equipped with the factory front bucker seats, upgraded to the black leatherette trim. Instrumentation is augmented with factory options including lumbar support and comfort headrests for both driver and passenger seats with swivel base, Driver convenience and Comfort Plus packs, the MBUX multimedia interface with touchscreen, full color display instrument cluster, parking package with 360 degree cameras, cruise control, satellite radio and illuminated exits. The cargo compartment is ready for buildout with rear heater prep, and acoustic package for sound reduction, along with hardboard sidewall paneling.
This Sprinter is equipped with the 3.0 liter turbodiesel motor running through a seven speed automatic transmission, with the optional 4x4 high range with selectable low range transfer case. Upgrades include the installation of Owl Vans’ Stage 6.3 suspension, which involves a 2-inch ride height increase, aided by Falcon shocks and Sumo springs. Undercarriage protection includes both a full engine skid plate, and transmission skid plate.
